Afterward, various social media posts alleged that the exam question paper had been leaked.

At one center in Rajasthan – Girls Higher Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir, Sawai Madhopur – students studying in Hindi complained that they were given an English question paper by mistake. The NTA acknowledged the mistake of providing the wrong question paper but denied any reports of a paper leak.

NEET UG Exam 2024 Official Notice

“The claims of a ‘paper leak’ are entirely untrue… In a specific incident at Girls Higher Secondary Adarsh Vidya Mandir, students were mistakenly given an English medium question paper. Before the invigilator could rectify the error, the students left the exam hall with the question paper,” stated a senior NTA official.

According to the rules, students are permitted to take the question paper with them only after the exam concludes. However, some students forcibly exited the hall, leading to the question paper being circulated online around 4 pm, explained the official. The official emphasized that this incident occurred after the exam had already started at other centers, therefore confirming that there was no leak of the NEET UG question paper.

The NEET-UG 2024 exam took place from 2 pm to 5.20 pm. This year, a record number of 23 lakh candidates registered for the exam, with over 10 lakh being male, over 13 lakh female, and 24 students identifying under the third gender.

In terms of regions, Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of candidates with 3,39,125 registrations, followed by Maharashtra with 2,79,904 registrations, and Rajasthan with 1,96,139 registrations. Among the southern states, Tamil Nadu had 1,55,216 applicants, while Karnataka had 1,54,210 applicants.

For comparison, in 2023, a total of 20,87,449 candidates had registered for the NEET-UG 2023 exam.
